Anchor of Hope Ranch
Our family: Most of our family grew up gardening and helping out on friends' farms.
All of us have bred and raised a variety of animals. Two of us have veterinary assistant training.
Goals: Anchor of Hope Ranch is a small family pasture based farm located near Kindersley, SK. Jesus is the anchor of our hope for the present and the future. We are passionate to raise healthy food in a sustainable way.
Animals: Our animals are raised humanely and in as natural as possible setting given the predators in our area. They receive a healthy diet as well as herbs, seaweed, and apple cider vinegar for health. All the herbivores eat grass except the rabbits are working on less dependence on commercial pellets. The poultry graze on grass as well as grains. We are not certified organic but we don't use chemicals, hormones, or antibiotics.
Market garden: We use companion planting, planting in guilds, and encouraging beneficial insects to keep the market garden healthy and bountiful. Every year, we work on more hugelkulture, ponds, swales, and other water storage and irrigation systems. Our focus is an edible landscape that is as productive as posssible.
Bees: We are increasing the amount of flowering plants on the farm every year for our bees. We use herbs to treat the bees.
